VoRide Expands to Three New Cities Following Success in DeLand

March 11, 2024

Following a successful launch in DeLand, VoRide, the new curb-to-curb rideshare initiative from Volusia County, is set to expand its services to DeBary, Deltona, and Orange City starting Monday, April 8. Since launching in DeLand in December, VoRide has shown significant ridership growth and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, indicating the community's readiness for broader service coverage.

“Continued ridership growth and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received in the DeLand area shows it’s working and it’s time to expand into other communities,” said Volusia County Transit Services Director Bobbie King. “With nearly 1,000 trips reviewed and with an average of a 4.8 out of 5-star rating, VoRide is not only meeting but exceeding the expectations within our community.”

VoRide stands out with an extremely affordable pricing model with no peak time surcharges nor are passengers allowed to tip drivers. Additionally, discounted fares are available to persons who are 65 years of age or older, disabled, and children 17 and younger.

For persons needing to travel beyond their service zone as outlined in the app, VoRide offers an integrated solution by connecting those riders with Votran buses. This ensures that passengers can continue their journey without extra charges in most instances, providing an extended reach beyond the region.

The VoRide app, available on both the App Store and Google Play, has been designed to be user-friendly, allowing riders to easily book trips and insert payment methods. Users can view the estimated arrival time of their driver, secure their ride, and track the driver's location in real-time. This functionality seeks to enhance the daily commute and simplify trips to various destinations such as work, stores, doctor appointments, and social gatherings.

Operating from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, VoRide aims to meet a wide range of transportation needs. Individuals unable to use the app can call 386-210-9861 or visit www.votran.org.
