Reminder: Votran’s New Fares Become Effective in January
December 16, 2024
Votran’s fare adjustments, approved earlier this year, will take effect on Jan. 1, 2025. These changes are necessary to maintain Votran’s high-quality services amid rising operational expenses. This marks the first fare increase in a decade, and even with the adjustments, the new rates will remain below the average for transit systems in Florida.
Starting Jan. 1, single-ride fares will increase to $2, up from $1.75. One-day passes will cost $4, with modest increases also applied to three-day, seven-day, and 31-day passes. Votran Gold Service fares will be set at $3.50 per ride. Reduced fares will remain available for individuals with disabilities, seniors 65 and older, and youth 17 and under. Full details about the new fare structure are available at www.votran.org.
To ensure riders are aware of the upcoming fare changes, Votran staff will be present at transfer centers throughout December to assist riders with information about the new fares. Temporary and permanent signage has been installed on buses, and bus operators are notifying passengers during boarding. Automated phone calls will remind registered Gold Service customers, and customer service representatives are sharing updates with callers.
Earlier this year, Votran held public meetings, both in-person and online, to gather feedback on the proposed changes. Input was also collected directly from riders at transfer stations and on buses.
