Volusia County Joins Florida Mobility Week with Special Events and Public Engagement

October 23, 2024

Volusia County's Transit Services Division will join the Florida Department of Transportation's Mobility Week, which runs from Friday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Nov. 2. The initiative promotes awareness of safe, multimodal transportation choices and encourages residents to explore new transportation options through various local events.

On Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., Volusia County Transit Services staff will engage with SunRail riders and users of Votran's DeLand Circulator route at the DeLand SunRail Station, 2491 Old New York Ave. The team will discuss public transportation choices, gather feedback on riders' experiences, and distribute promotional items. Throughout the week, staff will also be present at various plazas, transfer stations, and bus stops across the county and ride on buses to interact directly with riders.

Additionally, on Monday, Oct. 28, the Transit Services Division will host its annual Disabled Transit User Awareness event. Starting at 9:30 a.m. at Votran's headquarters, 950 Big Tree Ave., South Daytona, representatives from various organizations will observe the tools and modifications Votran has implemented to help riders with disabilities reach their destinations. The event includes multiple bus stops and transfers, concluding around 11:30 a.m. back at headquarters. Due to limited seating, media members wishing to participate should RSVP to Clayton Jackson at cjackson@volusia.org by noon on Friday, Oct. 25.
