Votran Service Modifications to Take Effect June 30

June 19, 2024

During its June 18 meeting, the Volusia County Council approved adjustments to Votran routes. These changes, which will restructure certain routes, aim to enhance service and reliability and will take effect on Sunday, June 30.

East Volusia

  • Routing and Schedule Adjustments
    • Route 6 will no longer enter the Ormond Towne Square parking lot. Riders should use the bus stop on Williamson Boulevard or Route 19. The route will no longer serve Wilmette or Thompson Creek; from Granada Boulevard, the bus will turn right on Nova Road. Additionally, the route will no longer serve 3rd or Vine streets; the bus will stay on Brentwood both inbound and outbound. Minor adjustments will occur to the inbound schedule.
  • Routing Adjustments
    • Routes 19, 1N, and 1S will no longer enter the Bellair Plaza parking lot. Buses will stop on A1A instead. The only route to enter Bellair Plaza will be Route 8.
  • Schedule Adjustments
    • Route 60 will have minor adjustments to inbound trips.

West Volusia

  • Route Eliminations
    • Routes 20, 21, 22, and 23 will be eliminated. Routes 31, 33, and VoRide will provide alternative service.

Starting Monday, July 1, Route 31 will operate all day. Currently, it runs only during morning and afternoon peak periods to connect to the DeBary SunRail Station. It will operate from approximately 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. every 30 minutes from the start of service until about 9 a.m. and from 3 to 8 p.m. At other times, the route will run hourly. On Saturdays, it will operate hourly from 6:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The route will be deviated to serve Enterprise Road, Saxon Boulevard, and the Market Place Transfer Center in Orange City.

Route 33 will also have its schedule and routing adjusted. The route will operate from approximately 4:20 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. on weekdays, running every hour during peak periods from 4:20 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The route will run every two hours during midday, leaving the Deltona Regional Library at odd hours. The route will be modified to serve the Deltona City Hall Complex and Market Place Transfer Center, as it previously stopped outside these locations on the street. It will also operate on Enterprise Road from Saxon Boulevard to Highbanks Road and no longer serve areas north and east of the Deltona Regional Library. On Saturdays, the route will operate hourly from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. between the Deltona Regional Library and the Market Place Transfer Center only.

Additionally, the council approved the creation of a new route. Route 30, to be known as the DeLand Circulator, will operate in the downtown DeLand area between the DeLand Intermodal Transfer Facility and Amelia Superstop. It will serve the Thomas C. Kelley Administration Complex, AdventHealth DeLand, various apartment complexes on SR-15A, and the DeLand Walmart. The route will run only on weekdays from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., hourly, during peak ridership times. Initially, the route will run on a temporary schedule while staff updates route systems. Passengers should look for flyers on the buses with the schedule and for buses displaying “SPECIAL.”

Flyers highlighting the route and schedule changes will be available on all buses before and during the transition period. Staff will conduct outreach on affected routes to assist riders with any questions about reaching their destinations in the shortest amount of time.

Votran continuously evaluates operations and implements route and schedule adjustments to optimize service. Votran route and service information is available at www.votran.org and on the myStop mobile app.
