Votran providing service to Food for Florida

Beginning Thursday, Oct. 5, Votran will provide shuttle service to the Disaster Food Assistance site at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. 

From Thursday, Oct. 5 through Saturday, Oct. 7, service will run hourly from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the Transfer Plaza on Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard and Palmetto Avenue in Daytona Beach and the Amelia Super Stop on Amelia Avenue and International Speedway Boulevard in DeLand. On Sunday, Oct. 8, service will run hourly from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the beachside Intermodal Transfer Facility located on the bottom level of the Ocean Center parking garage in Daytona Beach. Paratransit buses with signage on the front windshield and side window will be used for shuttle service. 

The last bus leaving for the Volusia County Fairgrounds departs at 4 p.m. daily. The last bus leaving the Volusia County Fairgrounds departs at 5 p.m. daily. Votran recommends residents arrive at the Volusia County Fairgrounds early, as the Food for Florida process may take longer than an hour. 

No fares will be charged for shuttle service to and from the Volusia County Fairgrounds. 

The Florida Department of Children and Families Disaster Food Assistance is offered from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4-8 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 W. New York Ave., DeLand. Individuals are encouraged to apply for assistance the day before visiting the Food for Florida site. To decrease wait time, an online application is available on the Food for Florida website at http://www.myflfamilies.com/FFF. Applicants should bring a valid Florida Driver License or other form of identification.
